Statement on Reginfo.gov Undergoing Revisions
dataindex.us relies on updates to information collection requests (ICRs) from the federal RegInfo site. As best we can tell, that site went offline on Friday, August 15, 2025, and is now partially restored. The situation is evolving, but here’s what we know so far:
As of 5pm on Wednesday, August 20, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) has a notice on the Reginfo.gov homepage indicating that the site is undergoing revisions. Data related to ICRs may not accurately update, and all comments on ICRs should be emailed to MBX.OMB.OIRA.ICRComments@omb.eop.gov.
![Reginfo.gov is currently undergoing revisions. Until this temporary issue is resolved, data related to EO 12866 reviews and information collection requests (ICRs) may not accurately update. EO 12866 meeting requests and public comments submitted for ICRs will be handled via email until this issue is resolved. To request an EO 12866 meeting, please send an email to MBX.OMB.OIRA.EO12866Requests@omb.eop.gov For EO 12866 Meeting Requests, please use the following subject line: "EO 12866 Meeting Request: [RIN] [Rule Title]." The Regulatory Identification Number (RIN) can be found on reginfo.gov. Please list the requestor's name and affiliation, as well as anticipated attendees in the body of the email request. To submit a comment on an information collection request, please email your comment to MBX.OMB.OIRA.ICRComments@omb.eop.gov with the subject line: "ICR Comment: [OMB Control Number] [Collection Title]."](https://assets.buttondown.email/images/dd072385-755a-4db9-a1ee-e7394953a4ef.png?w=960&fit=max)
Why does this matter? ICRs are typically published daily on Reginfo.gov, providing details on federal agency requests to collect information from the public (such as forms and surveys), or to change questions on current data collections. The site allows the public to review these requests, and when applicable, submit comments to ensure agencies receive feedback before OMB makes approval decisions. When Reginfo.gov is disrupted or missing data, the public loses timely access to this process, reducing opportunities for engagement and oversight.
What data is available on RegInfo now? Reginfo.gov went completely offline on Friday, August 15, displaying the following message: “The system is under maintenance. It will be back shortly.” The site came back online on Monday, August 18. However, we observed that the most recent ICR data is missing. At the time the site went down, it contained ICR data through August 13. Only data up to August 1 is currently available on RegInfo, but fortunately you can find details from those most recent ICRs at dataindex.us.
We hope to see RegInfo back to its usual self as soon as possible.
💐💐💐Get Well Soon, RegInfo!💐💐💐
